A walk in full presence

The return of spring and nature coming back to life reminds me of a significant experience: a mindful walk that the Respire Foundation organized for vulnerable young girls from the DPJ youth centre, aimed at calming their anxiety.
Accompanied by Catherine Lajeunesse, from the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi des Laurentides, we welcomed a circle of young girls, aged 12 to 17, whose hearts bore the weight of the most tense life situations.
We presented them with the objective: An inner journey, a very slow walk conducted in silence and full presence, to anchor their minds in the miracle of the present moment and observe the symphony of wonderful little details that only nature knows how to offer.
Before we began, we headed to the gym for a few breathing exercises with our instructor, Jean-Manuel. This step proved crucial, allowing the young people to relax and build greater trust in us.
The walk began on a charming path adjacent to the center, leading to a stream and a beautiful field of wildflowers. After a period of adjustment, and thanks to Jean-Manuel's inspiring example, the girls (and the facilitators) gradually showed a growing interest in the details and curiosities of nature. The walk transformed into a veritable treasure hunt, which they enthusiastically embraced, collecting flowers, feathers, and other natural treasures, all while carefully observing their surroundings.
Back in the gym for the sharing circle, we noticed a significant change in the group's overall attitude. The girls were now enthusiastic about sharing their discoveries and seemed visibly more relaxed and at ease.
It was an enriching and educational experience, both for them and for us. A huge thank you to life for allowing us to experience this beautiful moment!
